Scholarship and Progress Review Committee
Mandate
The mandate of the Engineering Science Scholarship and Progress Review Committee (SPRC) is as follows:
- To recognize outstanding academic achievement and to nominate undergraduate engineering students for a range of scholarships.
- To monitor the academic performance of students in terms of maintaining the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) required for continued enrollment in the School of Engineering Science.
- To assist students in completing their studies in a timely manner.
Committee Membership
The current composition of the Scholarship and Progress Review Committee (as of September 2008) follows:

The SPRC chair and members are appointed annually by the Director, who serves in an ex officio capacity.
Scholarships
The Scholarship and Progress Review Committee recommends students for, and assists them in preparing applications for, various university and industry scholarships, including the following:
- 1989 Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation Scholarship (female student entering first year)
- Abe Unrau Memorial Scholarships (graduating students)
- APEGBC Achievement Award (graduating student)
- APEGBC Gold Medal (graduating student)
- APEGBC Transfer Student Scholarship (entering transfer student)
- BC Hydro -APEGBC Scholarships
- C.D. Howe Memorial Scholarships (first year male and female)
- Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation Scholarship (for student project promoting engineering)
- Dean's Convocation Medal (graduating student)
- Dean's Convocation Shrum Gold Medal (graduating student)
- Engineering Institute of Canada Scholarship (first year students from Vancouver Island)
- Lucent Global Science Scholars Program (first year students)
- Telesat Canada (studies related to satellite communications)
- Various industry sponsored scholarships (e.g., CREO, MDSI, Basil Peters/High Tech Exchange Group)

Academic Performance
Following University policy, Engineering Science students must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.00. If your CGPA falls below 2.00 and continues to be unsatisfactory, the University may require you to withdraw from the University. Please read carefully the University policy:
