Course Description:
This course aims to give a broad background into techniques used in image processing and analysis.
The topics covered include image transforms, image interpolation,
enhancement and filtering in spatial and frequency domains, image
segmentation and brief introduction to rigid and non-rigid image registration.
The depth of emphasis for the topics covered will be
flexible and tailored depending on the students intended area of applications.

Prerequisites: Proficiency expected with elementary calculus and linear algebra concepts (Math 232) and linear systems concepts (ENSC 380) or instructor's permission in absence of these prerequisites. Also required is a proficiency in one programming language, preferably C++ but JAVA, C and MATLAB equally valid choices.
Textbook: We will be following
Digital Image Processing, Second Edition by Rafael Gonzalez and Richard Woods. Published by Prentice Hall, ISBN 0201180758.

Notes will also be provided for topics that are not covered in the book
or which need additional reading material.
Reference books:
Office Hours: Monday 2:30 to 4:00. I will assign HW on Wednesday and have
it due one week later in class, so you can use the office hours for
clarification on problem solutions after you have had a chance to work through
them yourself.
Grading Policy:
(PRIMARY) 25% Final (inclass) , 10% Final Project, 25% Midterm (inclass + Project), 40% Homework.
