This lecture corresponds to Chapter 6 in Callister, except that we'll look at the properties of non-metals too, something that Callister doesn't get around to till later.
At this stage in the course, we begin to see how the microstructural details we've been discussing up to now determine the macroscopic properties of the materials.
Some of the slides used in class are just reproductions of figures from the text, so these are not reproduced below.

You should read both the assigned chapters, but topics covered on the website associated with the textbook, or with the CD that comes with the 6th edition will not be examined in the mid-term or final exams.
We will determine a date for the final exam during Monday's class, right after the zero-credit quiz.
